Our Food Truck Party theme verse was “Give us this day our daily bread.” We heard the stories of Manna in the Wilderness, Elijah and the Poor Widow, and Jesus Feeds the 5,000; stories of trusting God to provide. We learned that even in the midst of scarcity there is abundance when we share.

The children took our congregation’s yellow Food Donation Bags home and their families filled them with a combined total of 142 pounds of food for local hunger needs! We walked to Loaves and Fishes, our local food pantry, with all our food donations on our last day. Gena Bugno introduced the children to the Pantry and taught us about local hunger issues and the need for food donations throughout the year.

Thank you, everyone - teachers and children alike - for this VBS opportunity! God is good….all the time!

LOAVES AND FISHES FOOD PANTRY

In Confirmation we are learning about both global and local hunger issues. On November 1, we paid a visit to Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in Luck. Gina Bungo, one of the volunteers at the Pantry, showed us around the space and told us how people who are food insecure have access to the food. We brought gifts with us on our visit: Our confirmation families donated $90 in cash and 109 pounds of food! Another family promised 50-60 pounds of winter squash from their garden for the pantry. We have been blessed to be a blessing – all of these donations are greatly appreciated!
